hey folks, so I managed to find my credit card exactly where it was supposed to be, in the freakin money belt. I booked a flight for 300$ plus 15$ for the first and 25$ for the second bag that you (well, I) have to check in. They want you to fly only with your toothbrush, your laptop and your purse, so that you be an easily transported sort of good (checked-in luggage means hassle for them) and that you may buy their drinks (no free drinks on either flight; and water bottles etc. they take from you even before the shiny world of the duty free area).
Well, arriving at Philadelphia I was confident to catch my next flight as I had two hours of layover. Unluckily the organization of the airport is disastrous, and so the security/customs/immigration procedures made it possible that I arrived at my gate at 6.18pm and could happily wave goodbye to my plane rolling onto the airfield punctually (for 6.15pm it was scheduled). I then had the option to either fly to Baltimore (30min from Washington DC) or try to fly “stand-by”. I chose the latter and the next plane at 8.30, though fully booked, actually had three free seats (probably passengers had the same problems with the airport as I had earlier…) and fortunately for me I was the third on the list of six people waiting for a stand-by flight to Washington at Gate 25…
Arriving in Washington I had to face the fact that my luggage did not fly with me on my plane (understandably, it should have been transported with the 6.15-plane I was supposed to take) and in fact it hadn’t arrived at the Reagan National Airport… of Washington at all. Today is Monday, two days after my arrival…, and…
wait a moment
yeaaahaaah, my luggage just arrived! haha!
now I can reassemble my bike (which i totally deconstructed…) and then maybe roll through DC tonight,,, aber lasst mich nicht vergessen noch zu sagen:
In 10 Tagen werd ich wieder zurueck in Germanien sein, Jungs! It feels great to come back, to start something new. I have a lot of energy in me, and I really wanna rock something. Keine Angst, ich bin noch fast ganz wie frueher: vom Unrecht beleidigt und vom Kampf ueberzeugt, und ueberzeugt vom Glueck am Tun wie am Denken.
Sure, the world is being sold…
let’s claim it again, we have it all in our hands. at our disposal, at our fingertips. we’re so many (so freaking many! millions and millions who are convinced that we must change) and we have so much time to make us heard, so many hours to convince, so many train rides to think harder and dream more vividly and more daringly about the future, so many thursday evenings and sunday mornings to act out a solution, to go on the street and talk and demand a happier life in a juster world: there’s no good life amid the bad, kein gutes leben im falschen.
let’s take up the challenge. let’s work. we’re not only more and better: we are nearly everybody, (there’s hardly anyone against us; really against us) we can change anything we want, and we need change. this world is fucked and we need change,
I will come around talking to you. I will try to listen (though I’m bad at it, terribly bad), and I will try to win you over to work together with those people who do not give up in the face of 25thousand people dying of hunger every single fucking day. because it is you and me who can change this, and I will not tolerate inaction anymore, not with a smile, not even with a frown; I even hope I will be enraged by indifference, lazyness or alleged powerlessness; furious enough to propel forward as many as possible.
Jan Fabian
